Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) Rules

Soldiers enrolled in the ABCP are required to demonstrate satisfactory progress each month during their official weigh-in and tape assessment:

  • Satisfactory Progress: A loss of 3 to 8 pounds per month or 1 percent body fat / proportional waist reduction.
  • Unsatisfactory Progress: Two consecutive monthly assessments with less than 3 pounds of loss or lack of progress in 3 of 6 months.
  • Release Criteria: A Soldier is removed from the ABCP as soon as they meet the official body composition standard (WHtR < 0.550).
